Yall, I’ve just spent the morning studying the activity of laboratory dream researchers. It turns out that people have been conducting reliable scientific studies on dreams for decades!
I mean, I actually sort of knew all about this for the past several years; I just haven’t paid it much attention because, well…it’s very detailed and reserach-y and I am very generalized, broad, and touch-y/feel-y. I haven’t been interested in taking time out of my world to read. But, I finally did and Oh. My. Goodness.
Did you know, for example, that scientists have figured out how to do something called Blind Analysis?
This is where they can read an anonymous dream report and make detailed inferences and then confirm or dis-confirm it with the dreamer or dreamer’s therapist. In this way, research has shown that dreams DO have deep meaning in that they reflect our conceptions about our lives and they reveal our preoccupations. Essentially, dream researchers have proven that dreams have meaning.
This is just one of the exciting things I’ve learned in a span of 2 hours of study. I’m committed to paying attention to research on my little niche topic from now on, y’all, because it steadies my confidence in the work I am doing.
Ok Loves, I know this is short today, but I’ll share more research insights in future posts.
Until then, sweet dreams!
