Inner work is where you turn your gaze inward (towards your own life & choices). Your inner work is to look at your life and to tell the truth about it. And that’s all; that’s as risky as it gets; because the rest is realizing that Divine Grace and help is always available to you when you look at your life and tell the truth about it.
Inner work is about you and your God (or your concept of whatever constitutes the Universal loving force that is greater than yourself); it’s about you responding to that deep call to deal with the issues that keep haunting you. And by responding, I mean, facing. All you have to do is turn inward towards whatever is beneath the surface of your waking mind. Whatever is down in the unconscious- driving your behaviors, your choices, your patterns. Those are your shadows. Inner work is about shining consciousness, light, onto those shadows and letting them tell the truth that you’re not sure you can face.
And here’s the thing, just like when I work with people’s nightmares and help them face the scariest scene, when you actually put that shadow into words using your conscious intention, it becomes less frightening. It just does.
It does because you have put it into words and brought it up and out of yourself and into the world. And a Divine, healing seed somehow gets planted in the spot where the shadow once was. Loving kindness and nourishment can then follow and inner work becomes tending your spiritual garden and the fruits of God’s labor in you can grow.
Inner work is not easy, but its where its at, y’all.
