this one question is the beginning. When people know me and realize that I am both ‘normal’ and a dream coach, they relax and feel like they can share the thing they’ve been really wondering about but had not one to ask. “so, what does it mean when I dream about…(fill in the blank)?”
it’s a magical thing that happens and I get to watch it; thank you to everyone who has approached me to ask that one question. It has come in many different forms of course, “Pam, I HAVE to tell you my dream!” or “Hey, I thought about you this morning because I had this bizzare dream” or “you’ve got to hear this one” or “I’ve got one for you…”.
it happens to me all the time and what I have come to realize is that
it is an invitation to be with people as they explore their life a little bit more deeply.
They are opening up and stretching themselves further, they are risking discovering something unknown- some new truth, perspective, association.
And here’s why…
SAFETY + CURIOSITY = WILLINGNESS TO EXPLORE BEYOND BOUNDARIES
(SAFETY)- I generally come off as safe to people. I have a pretty good sense of where someone’s social, cultural, and contextual boundaries are and I respectfully try to stay within those lines with them.
(CURIOSITY)- And I am a little bit wild and kooky (ok, a lot bit). I am very comfortable and interested in exploring deep mystical, magical dream (and real life) experiences; and I have no judgement or fear surrounding other people’s experiences or dreams (no matter how bizarre they get).
So, when someone comes up to me and casually asks the question, it’s an invitation for me to join them on a little quest to find some new inner ground and to pick up their boundary line and move it a little further out into the wilderness of their unconscious.
It is literally the coolest job in the world, if you ask me.
