Although I tried to follow suit, the current trend of “whatever your first and last name is + dot com” as a website and personal brand just didn’t feel completely comfortable to me.
When I tried to pour myself into the website formula of my-name-dot-com, it became somber, serious, spiritually strict somehow. I didn’t want to be my normal joyful self because I wanted people to take me, to take my name, seriously. If you know me, you know that I am only serious when I’m hot on the trail of some delicious spiritual Truth. Otherwise, I am overjoyed with life and oh, so happy.
The solution? Pray for some guidance; sit in stillness and simply wait….wait for a place (a website) where I could finally feel at home; one that could accommodate all of me.
My father guided me to the brand Sweet Georgia Pam when I asked for help. My father, who was my living savior all my life; my father, who passed away suddenly in November; my father, whose last conversation with me was about my strength as a writer; my father. He introduced the name to me.
Sweet, because my name literally means “Sweet as honey” and when people meet me that’s the feedback I hear. Sweet is indulgent and comforting. Honey is the purest, most natural form of sweetness there is.
Georgia is my home base. It has always been the place I come home to; even though my family moved from state to state as I was growing up, Georgia was where all of my relatives were and so it was, and still is, my childhood happy place.
And so Sweet Georgia Pam.com is my home’ my little digital island that I am building for myself and for other sensitive seekers out there who delight in doing deep spiritual play and dream exploration. Welcome, reader, I hope it sweetens your world a little.
